Business (Accounting) Tutor Requirements

Must be a current WWU student.

Must have completed the full Principles of Accounting series. 

Must be capable of tutoring for CIS140 - Business Analytics with Excel.

Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in Business courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

Approval by Business faculty is required.

Computer Science Tutor Requirements

Must be a current WWU student.

Must have completed CPTR 141 and MATH 181. Completion of CPTR 142 is also preferred.

Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in Computer Science and Math courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

Preference is given to students who have taken or are currently enrolled in CPTR 211, 220, and/or 280.

Computer Science and Computer Engineering majors are preferred, but students in other majors may apply.

Approval of Computer Science, Engineering, or Math faculty is required.

Languages Tutor Requirements

The SDC provides tutoring for the following languages: French, German, Greek, Hebrew, Spanish.

Must be a current WWU student.

Must have completed the introductory course series for the language being tutored, and preferably be enrolled in or have completed the intermediate course series.

For modern languages, students who have taken ACA courses may be given priority.

Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in the specific language to be tutored, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

Approval by the language instructor for the specific language to be tutored is required.

Math / Engineering / Physics Tutor Requirements

Must be a current WWU student.

Must have completed through MATH 281 (Calculus II), and preferred through MATH 283 (Calculus IV).

Students who have completed MATH 106 (Intro to Statistics) or MATH 315 (Prob. & Stats) may be given priority.

Preference given to those who have also completed the General Physics or Principles of Physics series.

Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in all Math courses, and minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

Approval by Math, Engineering, or Physics faculty is required.

Science Tutor Requirements

Must be a current WWU student.

Must have completed General Biology, General Chemistry.

Completion of the entire Organic Chemistry series is recommended.

Tutor candidates who have taken A&P and/or Microbiology will be given preference.

Must have a minimum 3.5 GPA in all Science courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

Health Science, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, Bio-engineering, or other science majors are preferred, but not required.

Approval by Biology or Chemistry faculty is required.

Writing Tutor Requirements

Must be a current WWU student.

Must have completed ENGL 223. 

Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in all English courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

GPA for any Honors, Humanities, Communication, or Writing intensive courses should also be at least a 3.5 GPA.

Tutor candidates able to assist with writing styles other than MLA may be given priority.

Approval by faculty is required.

Philosophy Tutor Requirements

Must be a current WWU student.

Must have completed PHIL 204.

Must have a minimum GPA of 3.5 in all subject area courses, and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25.

GPA for any Honors, Humanities, or Math intensive courses should also be at least a 3.5 GPA.

Approval by faculty is required.
